Blueridge Releases Windows Client for OPTIX® Network; Provides Cross Platform Document Imaging and Text Search for Both Macintosh and Windows Workstations Flint Hill, VA - November 10, 1993 - Blueridge Technologies, "The Internet Document Management Company," announced OPTIX PC View, a Windows client for the OPTIX Network multi-user electronic document management system. OPTIX PC View is client software that allows IBM-compatible workstations running Microsoft Windows to access the OPTIX Network Unix/SQL-based document imaging and text search server. With PC View, Window clients are able to query, retrieve, and print electronic documents from the OPTIX Network server, providing true cross-platform support for both Macintosh and Windows-based clients. PC View clients can perform database queries for images, as well as Natural Language full text queries using the unique OPTIX Natural Language Search text search engine. PC View clients are even able to archive and retrieve Computer Originated Documents (COD's) on the OPTIX Network Server. COD's include wordprocessing files, spreadsheets, graphics files, and other computer files already on the workstation. When the user retrieves a COD, OPTIX PC View automatically launches the application that created the COD. The original OPTIX client software was designed to take full advantage of the imaging power and ease of use of the Macintosh. The OPTIX PC View client brings to Windows this same high performance imaging and ease of use, because we have retained the look and feel of the original OPTIX client - the most widely installed document imaging system for the Macintosh. Blueridge has also ported our lightning fast decompression software routines and image rotation software routines from the Macintosh to Windows. On the Macintosh, these routines are written in assembly language for maximum performance. For the PC View client we have ported these routines to assembly language for Intel-based processors, so the speed that users have come to expect from the OPTIX Macintosh client is available to OPTIX PC View users as well. OPTIX PC View performance is virtually identical to the industry leading performance of our the original OPTIX Macintosh client. OPTIX PC View is designed for larger companies with a multi-platform environment who need to provide document imaging, archival and retrieval, and text search to all users on a Local Area Network or a Wide Area Network, whether those users work with a Macintosh or an IBM Compatible PC. OPTIX Networks can be designed to support a small workgroup, an entire department, or multiple departments across an entire enterprise, from city to city and coast to coast. OPTIX PC View includes the following features: - Retrieval of images and COD's from the OPTIX Network Server
