New "Document Vault Appliance" for small offices and departments features "power on" deployment, automatic backup, and "programmer-free" customization

Flint Hill, VA, March 20, 2001 – mindwrap announced the immediate availability of Optix DIVA, a "document vault appliance" for managing both paper and digital documents for small offices and departments. Preconfigured at the factory, the server is deployed in minutes by simply attaching it to a network and pressing the power button. Users can instantly store, index, and search a variety of document repositories using standard web browsers or the supplied full-featured desktop client, available for both Windows and Macintosh platforms.

Optix DIVA is designed to reduce or eliminate typical system administration functions. System backup is automatic, using hard drives in a RAID 1 configuration. Data stored on the first drive is automatically mirrored on the other. Should a drive go bad, the system can continue to operate while the defective drive is replaced. Re-mirroring after replacement is automatic.

Optix DIVA comes completely configured on a quality Dell™ server running Linux, with 20GB of mirrored storage capacity, Oracle™ database software, and Optix – all for $7999.00. A fully loaded system is also available for $9999.00 and includes a Fujitsu 3091DC desktop document scanner and backup tape drive. DIVA comes complete with the Optix Application Generator, allowing users to create and deploy new applications in minutes with no programming whatever. An optional wireless package can be added allowing users to query the Optix repository and fax or email documents anywhere while on the road.
