Blueridge Ports OPTIX® TO DEC Alpha® Flint Hill, VA - December 18, 1995 - Blueridge Technologies, "The Internet Document Management Company," announced that the OPTIX Network Document Management System now supports the Alpha-based servers from Digital Equipment Corporation, running the UNIX operating system (OSF/1 v3.2). The DEC Alpha adds to the line-up of high-performance UNIX servers already supported by OPTIX, including Sun SPARC and the RS/6000 from IBM. With the addition of the DEC Alpha as a server platform, OPTIX becomes one of the most scaleable solutions in the document management industry. Using Alpha servers, OPTIX can now provide a cost-effective solution for everything from a workgroup system running on an entry-level Alpha, to an enterprise-wide application running on a top of the line Alpha server with symmetric multiple processors (SMP) and mainframe performance. By porting to the DEC Alpha platform, Blueridge continues it's policy of supporting off-the-shelf, industry-standard hardware platforms, so that our clients can implement document management systems on platforms that they already own and support. Founded in 1988, Blueridge Technologies is one of the industry's oldest and most respected providers of electronic document management systems (EDMS). Long the leading industrial-strength document imaging and workflow system for Apple Macintosh computers, in 1994 OPTIX became the first electronic document management system to offer workflow, document imaging, document control, COLD (Computer Output to Laser Disk), and natural language text retrieval for both Windows and Macintosh workstations. Via the new OPTIX WEB interface, OPTIX also supports popular Web browsers, including Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer from Microsoft, Mosaic, and all the client platforms these products support, including Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX workstations. An online demo of OPTIX WEB is available at http://www.optixweb.com. Blueridge Technologies is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Metters Industries. OPTIX systems begin in the range of $40,000 and include server software, client software for both Macintosh and Windows, installation, training, and support. |
